The Graham Hunter Quartet/Quintet
"The Graham Hunter 'Cool Jazz' Quartet" do a fair amount of private functions as well as being visitors to Tuesday night's "Jazz @ The Belvedere", Hornchurch Jazz club on a Sunday Evening plus Monday nights at Bar Lambs
The regular line-up of my quartet is:-
Graham Hunter – Vocals, plus Trumpet/Flugelhorn/Bass Trumpet/Mellophone
Tony Gooderham or Sam Edwards – Piano
Ted Simkins or Roger Curphy – Double Bass
Jason Campbell – Drums

This back-line really swings.

With a line-up like this, the quartet can specialise; for example, Chet Baker (my favourite), Frank Sinatra, Staight-ahead, Miles Davis, Stan Getz, Be-bop; or do a mix of all of the above. Whatever best suits the occasion/venue.

I mentioned Chet Baker above - I love Chet's singing voice & uber-cool trumpet style and can do a whole "Chet Baker Sings" tribute night. I'm pleased to say I've been paid some very generous compliments of these shows by both musicians and jazz fans.

So, if you're a Chet fan, check out the Gig News link to see when & where we are next playing.

What’s even better, with musicians of this calibre, we can make it: more laid-back, funkier, blusier, or more commercial at the drop of a hat – all you have to do is ask.

I’m sometimes asked to augment the quartet and various options are available, for example: Guitar (Dave Mascall/Tony Sandeman), Sax (Graeme Turner/John Chapman), Female Vocals (Claire Harper/Claire Furley), or any other instrument you might fancy (perhaps excluding Alpine Horn).

I also have a "Cool Jazz" duo with Tony Gooderham on keyboards for smaller venues, where space (or licencing) is a problem.

We do both private and public functions, and I can tailor the line-up to suit the venue, space available etc. Have a look on the Gig News tab on the left-hand menu to see where my next public gig is.
